Amerigo Vespucci, 1935 - Malta.
Heading for Malta - described as “The world’s most beautiful ship” - The Italian Navy’s training ship Amerigo Vespucci left the port of Livorno on Tuesday and after embarking naval academy cadets for their training course.
The Amerigo Vespucci, which was last in Malta in 1993, is a 101m long sailing ship with three masts an an engine. Built in the Regio Cantiere Navale of Castellammare di Stabia (near Naples) where it was launched on 22 February 1931, on the 50th anniversary of the Naval Academy’s foundation

“These works are glass pyrographs that are made by drawing with hot molten glass, leaving the immediate charred tracery of my movement with the heat.
It is a way of capturing a fleeting moment and eternalizing it, and it gives the viewer the opportunity to see a gesture.”
